Congratulations to our Bookseller, Madeleine Streater, finalist for The Australian Fiction Prize

A huge congratulations to our very own bookseller, Madeleine Streater, who has been short listed as a finalist for The Australian Fiction Prize!

The Australian Fiction Prize is a collaborative project for finding new literary talent. Open to all Australian writers, the winner will receive prize money of $20,000, plus an advance of $15,000, and publication by Australia’s leading publisher, HarperCollins Australia.

Madeleine Streater, 32, has been working in our Sydney store for many years, giving excellent book recommendations and very quietly working on her writing. Maddie has recently moved on from bookselling and is in her first year as a high school English teacher.

Her pitch for The Australian Fiction Prize:

Summer Animals follows three generations of the Macleay family as they determine the fate of their once-grand sheep station, Nummerak. When a mining company makes an offer on their property, the Macleays must decide whether to fight or to sell.
